Day 7- The way of the Cross

Pools of Bethesda, sheep cleansing pool that was later used for healing when the water stirred. Jesus healed a man here that had been infirm for 38 years.

(Muff thought about getting into the "spa" here, but it was full of Orthodox Jews possibly only wearing towels!!)

Garden of Gethsemane with olive trees dating back to the time of Christ!!

(Pouring down rain here while trying to take pictures!!)

Via Dolorosa-The traditional way of the cross! Also lots of tiny booths and shops along the way.

"A site" The Biblically described way of the cross. (Other sites are traditional sights chosen by Constantine's mother) This was an original pathway to Caiphus's house. (high priest who tried Jesus)

The Church of the Holy Sepulchre- The "traditional" site of crucifixion and Jesus' tomb .

The church building is controlled by many different sects, and no one will be responsible for removing the ladder that you see in the picture under the window. It's been there for years, and they fight a lot about it!!!

We had an awesome lecture on the dead sea scrolls tonight with Dr. Wise, our heads are spinning!!!

Coming home soon, 11 hour trip, plus we lose an hour to day light savings time!!! We have been on the go.... 10-11 hour days on the road....we're tired but happy!!! Coming home to rest!

Day 6- In Jerusalem

This is the part of the 1st temple wall that was built by Solomon!
This is an A site!! Jesus definitely taught from these steps. They lead up to where the temple was. When Neil Armstrong was here, it excited him more than walking on the moon!
These are stones from the Western wall which were hurled down by Roman soldiers during the destruction of the 2nd temple in 70 AD(CE...common era!!)
Praying at the Wailing Wall. (Western Wall)
Holocaust Museum. Children's Memorial Park. This is a Polish teacher who would not allow his Jewish students to be taken without him, so the soldiers took him, and he died with his students.

Day three- Hanging out at the Sea of Galilee!!

Hi all,

We had a busy day on the Sea of Galilee: we went to the sight of the BeAttitudes, saw Capernium, and the synagogue where Jesus taught, ate fish (had head on it) at a kabutz, sailed in a boat across the sea of Galilee and watched baptisms in the Jordan River.

Sorry about the spelling...Mark has run off, and Suzy and I are clueless!! Also, sorry about the duplicate pictures...couldn't figure out how to edit them out!!!

Tired!!! Heading to bed!

Hi, long day and lots to see. King Herod had quite a building program in Caesarea. Also saw Meggido and 26 levels of civilizations. Plus Larry found a grain elevator in Jezreel Valley where the battle of Armageddon will be fought.

Tomorrow, if you don't hear from us, our computer battery died-- not us!!! Love you!!!
